Official Opening
The Clarence Hotel

It's the OFFICIAL launch week of Manacle & The Clarence hotel!

As I write this email, finishing touches are being put on the fixtures and fittings. The chain spider web is up and it's nuts are being tightened (!)
It's ramping up to be a splendid opening with weekly entertainment starting from Wednesdays through till Sunday!

Launch week starts on Tuesday 26th August to Sunday 31st August, with the official opening on Friday 29th August 2008 from 9pm. There will be entertainment, special guests and a massive session of GRUNT in the Manacle area from 10pm starring yours truly!

"BENT" will be in full swing this Sunday 31st From 2pm.

Throughout this week we see the starting of Wednesday nights Jelly wrestling (Manacle) and Thursday nights being hosted by Sandy Bottom (Out Bar).

So why not pop in and join us for a whole week of fun and exciting events!

THURSDAY : Arq - Search for a Star. I have been put back onto the main part of the night again starting at 1am and finishing when the last punter drops! This is a rotation shift where I work every 2nd Thursday.

Friday : Manacle @ The Clarence is almost complete! Each Friday join me at 10pm till very late. Its deep and dirty...It's GRUNT!

Saturday / Sunday Mornings : Everyone knows where to find me on these mornings!!! It's RISING @ The Phoenix! This place goes off!!

Saturday Night : SLIDE. When I am early (9.30pm) it's a cocktail groove leading into house music, and when I am late (12am till 3am) it's a Club environment! Groovy & classy to boot!

Sunday Arvo : Check out the afternoon sessions at The Clarence. Grooooovy Cocktail styled music from 5pm. Come and join me tomorrow! This is a "roster me when I am available" shift.

INQUISITION XVI + Queens Weekend

Hi everybody,

This coming Saturday 7th June see the annual Inquisition XVI party @ Fox Studios. If you have been to one then you will agree that this is THE SEXIEST party to go to. Nothing comes even close to this!

Pull out your crutchless jeans, put on your chaps, Polish that leather belt and harness, find that cowboy hat or just dig up that old leather armband! For the girls...just pop on the Leather bras, chaps, nurses outfit or simply dress as a sexy slut (I know that "I" will!!)

A Work In Progress
Some areas of the Hotel will be a work in progress over the next few months while some re-arrangements are made and changes carried out. The whole Hotel was completely renovated about 4 years ago and so the bones are great it’s just the cosmetics that will change

1) Above the one story section of the Hotel a smoking deck and B-B-Q area
2) In the 2 story section in what was the residence there’s the possibility of specialized GLBT accommodation or a restaurant or another bar. That one is still so deep in the melting pot that we don’t even know the answer

Everybody is gearing up for Anzac celebrations and asking me where the hell I will be DJ'ing!

So, here goes....

On the eve of the Anzac long weekend (Thur. 24th) I am in the Vortex @ Arq From 1.00am till 6.00am.
It's the usual camp commercial music with that "Alsop Twist" TM

I then rotate the fluffy stuff out of the way and head of to Phoenix Rising at 6.45am till 9.30am for a morning of the newest energetic (yet no so commercial) anthems! It's gonna be a pumping day so bring plenty of energy!

Then it's off for a nap so I can arise fresh as a daisy for Slide at 9.00pm till Midnight.

Things have been a little quiet since the mayhem of late February and early March! What a time we all had with Underbear, Toybox, Manacle, Lindeman Island and Big Gay Day as well as the regular Thursday Arq, Slide and Rising!

DESPERATE HOUSEBOY

Coming This Saturday 22nd Dec, like a steam train entering a tunnel, is the infectious experience of “Desperate Houseboy”. It’s hot and it’s a capacity event that targets uplifting Anthemic vocal music in all their entirety!

Sports N' Shorts

Whilst it seems that I have been a quiet bunny recently, a few things are on the sizzler!

"Rising" at Phoenix is phenomenal! Every Sunday morning the place comes alive and you can usually find me there from around 9.30am (check my web site for exact details!)

SAT DEC 8th is "Sports n' Shorts" @ the Sportsman Hotel in Brisbane! It requires minimal dressing up......in fact, you are encouraged to dress down! Underwear, speedos, bathers, footy shorts, jockstrap or a wrestling suit (I have plenty of those!) will all get you in the mood....(but please, no sequined gold g-stings if you are over 20 years old!)
Doors open from 8.00pm and I will be on deck for a 4 hour set starting at 10.00pm.

Feel more than welcome to drop in and have a wrestle with me!

To all the people that have made my last 4 1/2 years at Manacle one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life, I would like to say a very heartfelt thankyou. From clubbers, Fellow DJ’s and the wonderful staff, it was an immense experience to be there with you! I was there when we were first walked into the downstairs area and it was an empty shell. Now it is a place of warmth and oh so many fond memories.

To the regulars, the casuals, the staff, fellow DJ’s, James - (who had his work cut out for him each week by running a phenomenal Day club) and especially the creators themselves: Andrew & Stuart, I will miss your smiling faces and the chance to play music that is more underground than the "usual" music heard on the strip.

It was a place that allowed a diverse music policy, but always with a positive feel. I had residency on Friday nights “Boyzone” that were a blast and then we transformed that into the notorious “Grunt” which saw the introduction of Electro/Tribal and Minimal music swing the club into a fully-fledged permanent underground event. The “Bent” day-club was always my Sunday/Monday pleasures since it’s inception and always an uplifting and positive experience for me.

It is one of the biggest losses to Sydney but I look forward to being there and when we open a new space for you all, and will work just as damn hard to bring it up to speed with a club that offers something for everyone.

It’s so very hard to say goodbye to all the friends that I made whilst working @ Manacle. To my entire fan base of MA15+, keep watching my site for further details.

I hope to see everyone on Monday Oct 1st for a massive send-off.

Remember that the motto in life is ‘Disco till you die”…I know that “I” will!

"Retrosexual" @ ARQ

Well, the day has arrived that I am actually going to do a Retro set!

I took the job as it is in a more intimate nightclub setting with no restrictions on what I can do! So it's going to be some stuff you know and some stuff that perhaps you weren’t born yet, but either way, It's going to be a few hours of silly fun.

Arq Main Arena on Friday 20th July from 3.03am. (Following my hard Electro and Tech-Tribal set A Manacle!)

Every Sunday 'Bent' will still start at 12 midday for me but I now finish at 3.00pm.

ALL GAY CRUISE - NaviGAYtion

There is so much in the works in the next few months that it is hard to keep up with. Firstly, the BIG NEWS this week:

Tuesday night saw the official disclosure of the DJ’s that are to be onboard the “Pacific Sun” P&O ship sailing out of Sydney on it’s first ever all Gay cruise!
Advertising has been prolific on this event with maximum coverage along the East coast of Australia. The ship sets sail on Thursday March 29th and returns Sunday April 1st. I will be working with Feisty and it is also a special Sydney Leather Pride event (I even hear that they are planning a special show!) It’s called Trick or Treat so join me from 10.00pm. The week after: Sat 18th November is a guest spot with Miss Kitty Glitter (Diva winner) @ DCM. I will open the night from 10pm and followed by the fabulous Miss Kitty herself and another TBC DJ. More details to follow.

I've just been confirmed to close Sleaze Ball 2006, so get out those calendars, pack those bathers and book your tickets early.

NEW FOR FRIDAY NIGHTS

GRUNT: new music, new attitude…darker, dirtier.

If you remember the best of the RAT Parties, Bacchanalia, Sweat Box & Paradise Garage then that starts to put you in the picture for Friday nights at MANACLE as DJ Mark Alsop played at them all. More recently Mark has played Sleaze Balls, Winterdaze (Melb), Love Muscle, QBB (Bne), NATION (Singapore), Body INC (Kuala Lumpur), Outrageous (Noumea) and Inquisition.

Mark’s career has spanned over 20 years and it takes hours of studio time every week to keep a fresh sound evolving. 20 years on and he is still raising the benchmark. As always, a lot of what you hear at MANACLE on a Friday night you won’t hear anywhere else until weeks later, if at all! Mark also works closely with ARIA, receives up to the minute releases though the international DJ Pools and personally receives pre-release tracks from overseas artists. All of that and he looks hot in leather!

As we’ve been trialling a brand new sound over the last few weeks, your comments have confirmed the style for GRUNT at MANACLE every Friday launching in MANACLE s birthday month.

A big thankyou to all the Sydney people that followed me down to Melbourne for the hottest ticket in town last weekend “Winterdaze”. An even big thankyou to all the Melbourne people who came out to see me as well. I was really humbled by your massive welcome and turn-out! It was a heart-warming and spectacular sell-out night that was one of the most memorable highlights of my career!

The boys from ATLAS have something up their sleeve and will perform highlights from the BEYOND BLACK show which can be seen in its entirety every Thursday nights. ATLAS are signed to Universal, all the guys are hot, Marcello Costa has just joined the band, the guys sing live & there’s bound to be a surprise or two.
In the lighting department Alex has something in store that will make BENT look just a little different over all three day clubs this weekend and when it’s left to Alex the lights always look spectacular.
